currently watching place beyond the pines…

no where close to the director’s previous work in blue valentine, but (maybe stupidly) this was one of the few movies that reminded me even vaguely of pulp fiction in its jump between characters in service of a larger story, which i loved. a lot of the dialogue and direction reminded me of blue valentine, which was again great. i feel tho that ryan gosling is used over and over again in the same way which is getting tiring, which he himself alluded to in his bai i’m taking a hiatus statement. never thought i’d say this but i really feel like the star of this was bradley cooper who completely convinced me in his role and wasn’t used as a lulbro for once. i would recommend this movie just to watch a dude usually fucking hookers in hangover sequels playing a naive young father dealing with the fact that he murdered a person

basically i will continue to believe in derek cianfrance provided his next film doesn’t tank, meanwhile i hope ryan gosling goes into stage acting and interpretive finger painting because fuck catering to manufactured hollywood standards of masculinity yolo, and bradley cooper be my dependable dad figure, take out my recycling and build me a wood cabin in montana.

Twenty year old Lucille Ball in 1931.

I cured myself of shyness when it finally occurred to me that people didn’t think about me half as much as I gave them credit for. The truth was, nobody gave a damn. Like most teenagers, I was far too self-centered. When I stopped being prisoner to what I worried was others’ opinions of me, I became more confident and free.
